Octet at Hudson Valley Shakespeare in Garrison, NY

Last week, I opened up a production of Dave Malloy’s Octet at Hudson Valley Shakespeare, directed by Amanda Dehnert. Octet is a chamber choir musical for eight actors, entirely unaccompanied. This is only the 3rd time that the musical has ever been produced. The show follows eight people with various addictions to technology and the internet as they attend a recovery meeting in a church basement. Their individual shares take the form of songs. It is one of the most brilliant and challenging and rewarding pieces that I have ever had the good luck to work on.

We jumped into tech pretty much as soon as The Comedy of Errors closed, and the show is absolutely gorgeous in the tent. (This is the final full production run under the iconic tent before HVS moves into its new permanent theatre next season.) It is a short run - we only have 2 weeks of performances left (through September 7, 2025) - and you DO NOT want to miss this. So if you’re in New York or can get here pretty easily, please check us out! More information on tickets and how to get to the theatre can be found HERE.
